City Twinners

Using the city as a tool for learning. Instead of sitting in a classroom and just talk about the city, we go out and ‘read’ it: listen, smell, feel, taste and look at it. Our schools are located in urban areas in different situations. Although in different contexts, all the partner schools work in disadvantaged areas and/or with disadvantaged students.there is a large percentage of special needs children, immigrated children, children at risk of social exclusion. The project can have a positive impact in all these schools giving the students a chance to explore an international and multicultural world. We want to explore our cities with the children in order to find on them their original characteristics of being a place where to meet and interact.: public areas, shared and systematic space, defined spaces to functions, Children, from the time they are very young, are able to interpret and express their own needs and to contribute to the changes in their city. Their needs coincide with those of a large number of citizens, especially those that are the most vulnerable. Therefore, it is worthwhile to let them have their say and ask them to participate, because perhaps, in their name and for their good, it is possible to ask the adult citizens for those changes that they are quite unlikely to accept and promote for other reasons. A city suitable for children is a city where everyone lives well. City Twinners is the second year project of City twinning, planned by teachers as eTwinning project in first step and then approved as a Comenius project since september 2012. All the partners will cooperate in etwinning project, applying the collaborative methodology of etwinning to Comenius partnership. Twinspace will be the platform for cooperating and communicating among the partner schools
