A Year with the Birds

A number of Lithuanian pre-schools will celebrate the 300th birthday of our famous author K. Donelaitis. His poem 'The Year' is considered by UNESCO to be included in the celebration list of 2014. The poem is translated into many languages. It celebrates the nature and the work of the simple people. There are a lot of references to the birds in the poem. This project will help children celebrate this important event and spread the word around Europe. Throughout the year children will look at the life of the birds and learn about the importance of living with nature in harmony. The project activities are built around children's interests supporting their social and personal, language, problem solving, knowledge and understanding of the world, ICT, creative development, helping them to become confident and responsible citizens of Europe.
