You, Me and our Grandparents

Grandparents are special people in children’s lives. They provide not only love and affection but a different perspective on the world. Amongst grandparents’ wealth of knowledge and experience they provide history, continuity, a sense of belonging to a family group and tradition. These factors build on a child’s family identity. In return children offer a sense of wonder, joy and spontaneity that is often lost as people age. The relationship between grandparents and their grandchildren is mutually beneficial and the memories created can last a lifetime. Inviting grandparents to our classrooms they will share their skills, tales and traditions. They will be introduced to world of technology and will meet each other during videoconferencing. In return they will keep them in touch with their grandchildren’s interests, friends and life at school. Meeting grandparents from different countries the children will find their national identity whilst sharing the diversity of traditions and way of life of different countries.
