Winter traditions and customs in Europe

eTwinning

In Romania some of the most beautiful traditions take place during the winter season. In villages those traditions are more present since the rural areas have least been touched by modern economical practices and techologycal development. Unfortunately some of those manifestations of human joy and celebration are about to become „extinct”, as it has happened many times before during the course of human evolution. The difference is that nowadays there is a wide variety of tools that can be used to preserve the authentic beauty of those traditions. My idea of a project is to create an ilustrated anthology of the most important winter traditions in various countries. This anthology would contain a description of each individual custom offering information about : the time and place it occurs, who the participants are, its meaning, etc. , photos, pictures of each tradition or custom , handmade objects created by pupils.
