Educational use

Why is Dipity useful ?

Dipity is excellent for encouraging students to edit, evaluate, collaborate and generate projects that can personalize history. So it is the perfect tool for creating a timeline for any subject in your classroom. Students can bring history to life by embedding relevant You Tube video into their timelines.

What about the educators ?

For educators, the benefit of timeline builders is the ability to work with students on developing their decision-making skills. Students constructing timelines have to decide which events to add and which to omit, what text should be displayed, which images to embed, and most importantly  why the particular starting and endpoints were chosen on historical merit. In many ways, tools like Dipity provide teachers with an insight into student decision-making processes and open up dialogue about what historical work entails.

Ideas for the classroom:

  • Timelines can be made about any topic in any subject. Students can research video, audio, pictures, and text to make a rich presentation of new knowledge.
  • Timelines can be used as teaching tools. Teachers can create the timelines or use ones made by others. Students can be asked to comment on the timeline as part of the assignment.
  • Classes can create a timeline in small groups.
  • Geography skills can be taught and practiced when using the map feature.
  • A class birthday timeline could be made at the beginning of the year. Each entry could be an "about me" assignment. The whole timeline could be presented at open house.

Dipity makes your classroom interactive and engaging for students. This is where real learning takes place !

We can use Dipity in the education, because  it is accessible to all students( if they have got web access)

I think it is easier to use human subjects (for example history and literature), because these subjects there are more year.-> this is Dipity’s important element and work with years./Edina P./
