Christmas is Here!

Christmas time is a period where everything seems to speed up and sometimes we feel lost in the middle of the thousand activities we find ourselves involved in. This year has not been different and that has been great also thanks to this Project.

At Ibaialde most of the students were just worrying about the school's Christmas Festival, an event which captures everybody’s interests for a number of weeks, and we forgot a little bit our partners in Poland. Shame to us!!

Just before Christmas we received a huge parcel from our friends in Poland and when we opened it we discovered that, not only hadn’t they forgotten about us, but they had planned it for a long time.

Christmas cardThe box contained all sorts of things: Two big jars with delicious cookies baked by two students in the project; a lovely Christmas card; a kind of stained glass representing the Nativity; dozens of their famous Calendar made with the photos of the winners in their Photo Contest; a blessed candle we immediately lighted in the classroom; and finally some other stuff for the teacher that was never revealed to the students but  looked quite suspicious. But the best present arrived in a more modern way, it was a Video-Christmas card where they wished us all the best for the coming Holy time and they told us how they celebrate Christmas in Poland. We discovered their way was not so different from ours. Video cardThe video finished with everybody singing. When watching it for a second and third time we all joined them in the singing.

To try to make things even, after Christmas holidays, we sent them some letters where we told them about how we celebrate Christmas and traditions in our families, about the best presents we have given and the Fancy dresses we wore on New Year’s Eve.

ChristmasFinally Ana and Amaia recorded a video where they tell everybody how they celebrate this fantastic period with their relatives and what it means to all of them.

And trying to get a final smile from them in Poland, we offered them a video where the Teachers’ Choir at our school sings four Christmas carols during one of the last Festivals.

When we finished this topic, which is much more than a normal one, we thought everybody was a little happier and a better person.
