New activity: Compared culture chart

 A new activity has been added to the project. It has to do with the visit to Mérida (Spain) in February 2015. We will discuss 14 topics related to the cultures of our four countries, and see similarities and differences. To get ready for that activity, students can interact (via the forum and chat), upload pictures (to the blog) and, in general, exchange information about the four cultures.

The topics are:

1. Daily life

2. Food and drink - typical dishes

3. Leisure - sports and hobbies

4. Weather (and how it affects daily life; if at all)

5. Clothing (typical costume???)

6. Religions

7. Typical music and dance

8. Education system

9. Stereotypes

10. Superstitions

11. National festivities

12. Good manners (what is considered rude)

13. Multilingual inclusion vocabulary

14. The future of young people

Survey on Immigration.

The Comenius students at IES Emérita Augusta have done a survey on immigration, among their classmates and among primary school children in the area. The object was to get to know the opinion of Spanish students about the immigration reality, and to get to know the problems that immigrants have to face when they arrive in Spain.

Two political refugees, a police expert on immigration and two social workers from the ong SocialMente gave a talk on immigration to students at IES Emérita Augusta.


Comenius Diary.

The students at IES Emérita Augusta (Spain) have already got their Comenius Diaries ready to use.

Teacher Isidro Belloso has painted a beautiful water colour for the cover.

Berlin's Comenius Corner is on!

 The Comenius Corner at our German partner's school has also been set up. Two to go!







Mérida's Comenius Corner is on!

 Today Mérida set up their Comeius Corner with information about the project for all the students and teachers to be aware of what is going on.








Work done!

 Today we finished work: all the activities were revised and redesigned; and we discussed the mobilities for the whole of the project. At the end we signed the agreements and said goodbye until we meet again... in Glasgow (Scotland), where the first mobility is due to take place in late March 2014.

Today we met at Emérita Augusta High School and we started work, to revise all the activities that have to be done along the first year of the project, and to design the mobilities.




Germany is also here!

At noon Louisa MacInnes and I were interviewed about our project at a local radio station.



And then our German colleague arrived, so all the members due at the teacher meeting are here ready to work. Neveretheless, it being Sunday, we had a meal together at a country house, to get to know one another a lilttle better.

Today our colleagues from Scotland and Turkey arrived and we did a little sightseeing around Mérida.



We were lucky because there was a big procession, which is unusual for this time of year.
