School Day of Non-violence and Peace

Peace Day activity

All partners held open days at their schools for parents, staff and pupils as well as for visitors and authorities of the local communities on which they get an impression of our engagement for peace and tolerance.
On January 30th, 2012 or thereabout all partner schools celebrate a “School Day of Non-Violence and Peace” (DENIP - Catalan Majorcan acronym from “Dia Escolar de la No-violència i la Pau”) in memory of Mahatma Gandhi’s death with the basic message "Universal Love, Non-violence and Peace. Universal Love is better than egoism, Non-violence is better than violence, and Peace is better than war."

Various presentations with poems, stories, songs and concerts took place in all of the partners’ schools. Its positive and peaceful message was disseminated to the audience. A joint performance of the “Ode to Joy” in the different languages shall demonstrate our feeling of togetherness and our joy to live in peace in Europe if we strive to practise tolerance and non-violence.
